ICC Tournaments
The ICC stands for International Cricket Council. They organize international tournaments for men's and women's cricket. They organize the men's and women's ODI World cup, men's and women'sT20 world cup, men's World Test Championship, men's and women's Champions Trophy and men's and women's U19 World cup.
ICC T20 World Cup
The first men's T20 world cup was played in 2007 which India won. It has been growing since then. The last one was played in USA and West Indies in 2024 which India won and the next one is played in India and Sri Lanka in 2026. There will be 20 teams participating in the tournament.
ICC ODI Cricket World Cup
The first ODI world cup was played in 1975 in which West Indies won. It is played every 4 years. The last one was played in India in 2023 which Australia won and the next one is played in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe in 2027
ICC World Test Championship
The first edition started with the Ashes series (England vs Australia) in 2019 and finished in 2021 with New Zealand winning the final against India and lifting the trophy. The latest edition started with the Ashes series in 2023 and finished in 2025 with South Africa winning the final against Australia and lifting the trophy. The current edition has started in june 2025 and it will finish in june 2027. The final will be played at Lord's in England
Local Tournaments
Each country has their own local league or tournament that they play with same rules as in International cricket with a slight change and in a short format like T20.
Some countries chose a shorter format than t20 in their league or tournament like t10 or 100 balls.
In the leagues or tournament the team name is based a city, province or state. For example in the Ipl there is a team called Punjab Kings and another team is called Mumbai Indians. Punjab is state and Mumbai is a city in India

- Pakistan: PSL (Pakistan Super League)
Most countries uses million, billion or trillion. But some south Asian countries like India don't use these terms. India uses lakhs and crores.
Here is some conversions:
- 1 lakh = 100 thousand
- 10 lakhs = 1 million
- 1 crore = 10 million
- 10 crores = 100 million
- 100 crores = 1 billion
The IPL (Indian Premier League)
The IPL is the oldest and the most played cricket league around the world. In Ipl, there is a mini auction every year and a mega auction every 3 years where every team release some players and retain a maximum of 6 players including overseas players. Every year before the auction each team has the choice of which player to retain and release depending on their performance with their respective team. In each auction every team In the last mega auction, which was in 2025, each team had a total purse (budget) of 120 crores INR which is around 19 million dollars. An IPL team cannot have more than 8 overseas players in their whole squad of 25 players.
